We are reviewing our learner driver training materials, including the Driving Companion. We intend to ensure that all materials are inclusive, accessible and supportive towards learner drivers and their teachers.

Your feedback is essential in identifying opportunities to improve driver training materials, especially if you:

  • Hold a learners permit and are starting supervised training.

  • Hold a P1 or P2 license.

  • Are a full license holder supporting a learner driver with supervised driving.

Get involved

Have your say by:

  • Complete our anonymous online survey about training experiences, learning barriers, and improvement opportunities.

  • Use the Places map to pin locations where training was difficult or there are safety concerns.

Why is reform needed?

The need for significant reform of the South Australian driver training and assessment industry has been established through community and industry consultation.

The 2022 ICAC report identified multiple areas of misconduct, corruption, and exploitative behaviour across the driver training industry, and we are launching this review to address these problem areas.

Project aims

The purpose of this review is to address identified industry problems, understand community needs, and refine existing training materials. We want to:

  • Improve driving skills on the road

  • Reduce costs for learners

  • Improve accessibility and inclusion to support the needs of a diverse community

  • Address corruption and predatory behaviour across the sector

What are the next steps?

Submissions close on 19 October 2025. We will review your feedback to improve driver training materials for learners and supervising drivers and share updates on this page and in our newsletter.
